Set list:

Gold Boy – Stomach Funk (BG Baarregaard mix)
Cosmic Funk Band – Our Time (Jay Ru mix)
Ron Basejam – Someday
Weedyman – BMBJ
Nils Penner – State of Mind
De Fantastiske To – Pust

Andy Hart – Dreams on Kepler
Ichisan – Bela Ljubijama (Yam Who?)
Dj Vas – The Q

Snacks – Purdie

In this mix for Hold Tight Boogie I wanted to put some older stuff down that I’ve not had the chance to mix yet along with some brand new unreleased Gold Boy and ISM tracks and a few favorites from the last few months. Its good fun to get a mix done as I rarely get the time to just have a jam in the studio on the decks, all these tracks have been in my digital download chart on Juno (or are going to be!)

I’ve had 2 tracks released on Midnight Riot Records compilation albums last year, DiskoKlubb on MR7 and Scopin’4Love on MR8. My debut EP for ISM Records is due to be released on May 25th (Juno exclusive) with 3 new tracks of mine, each having been remixed by some very talented producers, BG Baarregaard (which is the first track on my mix) Richard Seaborne and Ex Friendly…

Look out for my club night – Midnight Riot West, quarterly at the Love Inn in Bristol… Cheers, GB. x

Review: You’d struggle to find a more passionate champion of the nu-disco and re-edits scene than Yam Who. His edit-focused Midnight Riot label does a great job in spotting and showcasing talent. Somewhat predictably, this eighth installment in the label’s self-titled compilation series is another winner. It features some 31 tracks, plus a bonus mix from the Dead Rose Music Company, and bristles with the kind of floor-friendly material that blurs the boundaries between electrofunk, nu-disco, house, funk, soul and, of course, straight-up disco. Given the sheer scale of the collection, picking highlights is tough, but look out for some urgent boogie business from Rayko, a dose of spinetingling, sax-laden sweetness from Goldboy, and a live bass and vintage synthesizer rinse-out from Fran Deeper and James Rod.

Review: Yam Who?’s Midnight Riot label is one of the big daddies of the current nu-disco scene. His eponymous compilation series are known for their ridiculously high levels of quality and this latest one is no different – there’s a whopping 24 tracks to choose from. Strangely the label boss doesn’t seem to appear this time round but we do get the silky electro-house of Digital Human’s “You’re My Last Chance”, the killer cyborg electro-funk of 80s Child’s “Contagious” and the other-worldly deep-jacking soul of “U Know How To Love Me”.
